December 30, 2009 at 2:44 pm Director Rob Marshall's movie Nine based on the seven time Tony Award-Winning Broadway Musical stars a whole host of Hollywood's finest female stars including Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotilard, Sophia Loren, Judi Dench and Fergie. It also features beautiful costumes for the actresses and cast to wear. Actual costumes from Nine on display at ArcLight Sherman Oaks These three dazzling outfits were on display at ArcLight Sherman Oaks cinema in L.A. on December 27, 2009. Nine movie poster In the movie Daniel Day-Lewis plays a famous Italian film director, 'Guido Contini', who is facing a midlife crisis in both his personal and professional life. He struggles to find the inspiration and creativity to create his latest movie through his relationships with the women in his life, his wife, Luisa (Marion Cotillard), his mistress, Carla (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse, Claudia (Nicole Kidman), his mother (Sophia Loren), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), a prostitute from his youth, Saraghina (Fergie) and an American fashion journalist from Vogue, Stephanie (Kate Hudson). Two of the costumes from the exhibit were worn by Kate Hudson's character in the movie. Kate Hudson's black sequined dress from Nine The sequined black dress on display was worn by Kate Hudson in the 'Overture Delle Donne', which is the female ensemble at the beginning of the movie, and also features prominently in one of the film posters for Nine (along with a pair of thigh-high back boots that complete the outfit). The other fabulous dress that Kate Hudson wore was this shimmering outfit for the film's ensemble finale, which she also wore with white thigh-high boots. Then multiple dancers can be seen wearing similar beautifully detailed costumes during the 'Folies Bergere' song performed by Judi Dench. This selection of original items from the film were on display at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood on December 28, 2009. Original props from Avatar on display at the Cinerama Dome Sam Worthington plays 'Jake Sully' a paraplegic Marine veteran who travels to the moon of Pandora to remotely operate a genetically engineered 'Avatar' hybrid of human and the indigenous Na'vi species. Movies Buzz Penang to attempt new Guinness dance record on New Year`s Eve December 8, 2009 at 9:39 pm Lumpur: Malaysian state Penang is set to welcome 2010 by making an attempt at a new Guinness world record through the 1 Population 1 World dance event. The event, Penang Golden 2010 (PG2010), which has been organised for the fifth consecutive time by CreatiVision DC Sdn Bhd and supported by Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd, coincides with the 53rd celebration of George Town`s city day. More than 100,000 people are expected to throng Padang Kota Lama for the event on New Year`s Eve. The pinnacle of the evening will be a 10-minute fireworks display to mark the beginning of the New Year. CreatiVision managing director Adelyn Lim said they had decided to have something spectacular this time as it would be a dual celebration. She said they hoped to attract more than 30,000 people on New Year`s Eve to join the largest dance event ever in order to create a Guinness world record. She said the dance was in aid of Unicef`s Unite for Children campaign. Participants will dance for five minutes to the tune of Sean Kingston`s `Fire Burnin` On the Dance Floor`. The current record for the largest dance group is 7,770 people in Cebu, the Philippines. "We also want to showcase our 1Malaysia spirit," The New Straits Times Online quoted Lim as saying at the launch of the event at the Gurney Resort Hotel and Residences on December 7. Lim said the 1 Population 1 World dance was a non-political, non-religious and non-profit campaign, co-ordinated by the company`s corporate social responsibility-youth social responsibility unit, Rainbow of Life Forces. There will also be live performances by artistes such as popular groups Estranged and SoFaz, and Hafiz (Akademi Fantasia season seven winner), Amy Wang (Astro Talent Quest runner-up) and newcomer The Villanz. Meanwhile, Celcom northern region vice-president Saiful Bahrin Abd Ghaffar said the telecommunication provider had lined up special offers, promotions and lucky draw prizes at their booth at the event site. "The PG2010 countdown is the perfect setting for Celcom to celebrate and usher in the New Year with its customers," he added. Five gold bracelets, priced at RM700 each, await the lucky winners, and Saiful Bahrin said there would also be special deals for BlackBerry users.
